How to make a homemade iced vanilla latte
Beebee’s was born from the goal of making a delicious, coffee shop quality latte right at home. After a few years of perfecting our craft, we think it’s safe to say that we’ve got it down pretty well. Luckily for you, we’re feeling generous in sharing how we do it. ;) Let’s start with the classic go-to: an iced vanilla latte!
What is an iced latte?
In short, an iced latte is the cold alternative to a traditional latte, made up of ice, a shot of espresso, and a cold milk of choice. A latte is composed of ⅓ espresso to ⅔ milk. The latte is one of the most common coffee drinks ordered today.
What you need:
- Ice
- Coffee beans
- Milk of choice
- Beebee’s Vanilla Bean Syrup
- Espresso Machine (we will cover alternatives to using an espresso machine)
Step 1: Choose your beans
A good latte starts with choosing the right beans! Espresso can be made with any type of beans, but we recommend choosing a medium or medium dark roast. If you don’t have a coffee bean grinder, or want to make sure it’s grinded just right, many roasters will offer to make the coffee beans into a fine, espresso grind for you! However, if you have a grinder at home, your beans should be grinded into a fine, powdered sugar like texture.

Step 2: Make your espresso
Grab your espresso shot glass, or a small cup. We personally like to use a small cup and add our syrup to it before pulling our shot, so the flavors blend nicely.
Next, pull a double shot of espresso with your machine. Make sure your espresso is evenly tamped, this is best achieved by giving your portafilter a light tap on your counter space, and lightly tapping the sides of the portafilter till the espresso looks evenly distributed before tamping with 20-30 lbs of pressure. A nice double espresso shot should extract for about 25-30 seconds.
Don’t have a machine? You can use a portable espresso maker, aeropress, french press, or moka pot as well!
Step 3: Combine
If you didn’t already add syrup to your espresso shot, add 1 to 2 tablespoons to your cup. Coffee shops typically tend to use 2 tablespoons of syrup, but if you just want a subtle splash of flavor, we recommend one tablespoon.
Next, pour your espresso shot, and 8 ounces of your choice of milk to the cup. Lastly, add ice! We recommend adding ice last, since pouring espresso over ice tends to “shock” the espresso and affect the taste and quality.
Step 4: Stir, sip, and enjoy!
